Geotab is seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist to execute Geotab’s communications strategy, supporting the development and implementation of communication initiatives that deliver impactful messaging to a diverse audience and advance Geotab’s business growth objectives. What you’ll do:

The Strategic Communications Specialist ensures that clear, concise and high impact communications are developed and delivered to stakeholders, media and influencers to build the company’s reputation, awareness and engagement. The Strategic Communications Specialist will have the understanding of all media channels, content creation, measurement, planning and execution, and is engaged and knowledgeable of emerging media trends along with measurement and analytics to inform and evaluate all aspects of communications strategies from creation to execution.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Develop and execute communication initiatives that deliver impactful messaging to a diverse audience and advance Geotab’s business growth objectives.

  • Create content and storytelling strategy to support Geotab’s overall media/news & views and social strategy, including media releases, presentations and background research/data analysis.

  • Manage media metrics, reporting, wire distribution, advise on insights, and dashboards (CISION, google analytics, other).

  • Liaise with global counterparts to build integrated campaigns and inform local initiatives including strategic communications and PR planning, leveraging data and metrics.

  • Research and utilize the latest communications trends and actions on a continuous basis to develop and implement new best practices for strategic communications and engagement.

  • Build and manage relationships with journalists and external stakeholders to build reputation and ongoing opportunities to tell Geotab’s business story.

  • Represent the company at industry events/shows coaching and supporting leaders with media and announcements, as well as being a proactive and confident media spokesperson, pitching stories and building solid relationships.

  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to inform strategic communications social media strategy.

What you’ll bring to this role
  • 3-5 years in Corporate communications, technology communications, and/or agency experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required, an advanced degree is preferred.

  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and organisational skills.

  • Strong Media relations including building networks of journalists, trade reporters, social media influencers.

  • Ability to conduct Media and social media measurement using data analysis tools, dashboards and reporting tools.

  • Knowledge of specialised requirements related to writing social and digital content.

  • Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.

  • Up to date knowledge of media and digital landscape, best practices and ways to increase engagement and inspire audiences, including familiarity with SEO tools.

  • Creative and understands how to leverage images/assets and design to engage with key audiences including journalists, stakeholders and influencers.

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with various departments across Geotab.

  • Naturally curious, outgoing, and a proactive storyteller.

  • Fosters teamwork and is highly collaborative, comfortable in representing the department to all levels of the organisation.

  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge/familiarity with Google Analytics Solutions, Social Media tools (Canva, Sprout Social, HootSuite) LinkedIn, CISION.
