Geotab is seeking a People Operations Specialist who will perform a diverse range of HR tasks supporting the administrative, operational, and people-facing functions of the People Operations shared service team. What you'll do:
As a People Operations Specialist your key area of responsibility will be acting as the first point of contact for employee inquiries while providing administrative support to HR Business Partners in areas like onboarding, compensation, and performance management. You will be responsible for the implementation of employment documentation, facilitating relocation requests, and conducting exit interviews to identify workplace trends. You will also need to provide regular status reports and data updates via DayForce to ensure HR processes remain efficient and compliant with legislative requirements. You will need to work closely with Geotab’s HR Leaders, HR Business Partners, and Centres of Excellence, as well as communicate with employees and People Leaders across various business lines.
To be successful in this role you will be a strong team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong interpersonal relationship-building skills and the technical competence to manage complex HR projects using Google Suite and HRIS tools. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you'll make an impact:
- Provide support to HR Business Partners on various HR functions, including but not limited to, performance management, recruitment/onboarding and compensation in a timely manner.
- Be the first point of contact to employees in designated jurisdiction(s), provide exceptional support and assistance to meet with employees, answer HR related questions and document employees issues (for example regarding leaves and compensation) and provide instructions on next steps, escalate to the HR Business Partner or Centre of Excellence, as required.
- Provide HR support to People Leaders as required, meet with them to discuss various challenges and provide basic coaching such as managing difficult conversations, escalating to the HR Business Partners as needed.
- Participate in various employment processes, including preparing, reviewing and sending employment documentation, such as position change letters, employment contracts, performance improvement plans and individual development plans.
- Provide support to HRBPs during the sensitive process of terminations and job eliminations while ensuring the approach and package are in line with applicable legislation. This includes assisting with pre-termination and post-termination documentation preparation and execution, effective communication with relevant stakeholders and other aspects of the process to ensure a smooth and respectful experience for all parties involved.
- Facilitate and prepare relocation, professional development requests and engagement toolkit requests.
- Assist People Leaders in the job description process and provide feedback to ensure that the job description accurately reflects the needs of the team and the organization, including specific duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide HRBPs with an overview of trends and observations gathered from exit interviews. Summarize and share data as necessary to enhance the employee experience.
- Assist HR Business Partners in performance management reviews, investigations, and employee relations challenges.
- Assist in People Operations process development and process improvement, looking for efficiencies and suggestions for improvement.
- Provide updates and suggestions for content for Global HR guides (Employee Handbooks) and Internal HR Wiki, as needed.
- Work with the HR data teams to develop DayForce reports and assist in the monitoring of employee processes, serving as reporting SMEs.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legislative requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks to ensure compliance.
- Participate actively in various HR programs, projects and initiatives, including being a main participant for development and implementation.
- Ensure strict adherence to Geotab policies on Google sharing rights to confidential HR/employee information.
- Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
What you'll bring to this role:
- 3-5 years of experience in human resources or people operations, ideally within a fast-paced technology environment.
- Ability to work on a broad set of Human Resources functions.
- Demonstrable evidence of HR expertise and thought leadership.
- Experience working within a technical or engineering organization, knowledge of the high-technology industry an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
