What you'll do:
How you'll make an impact:
- Architect cloud environments in GCP and AWS, and provide technical leadership on the design and development of cloud native solutions at Geotab running on Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with application development teams on architecting, designing, configuring, testing, and deploying cloud native applications in GCP and AWS.
- Manage the configuration and provisioning of GKE/EKS clusters and other managed cloud resources with Terraform.
- Use tools such as Gitlab CI/CD and Atlantis to automatically deploy your Terraform configurations to the cloud.
- Develop and maintain reusable Terraform modules to standardize the use of public cloud services across the organization and bake in security and operational best practices.
- Maintain documentation and network diagrams for all production systems which Geotab hosts within the cloud.
- Maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders during the design and development of cloud native applications within the organization.
- Provide technical expertise on cloud technologies and design choices which best meet the requirements of the application and the business.
- Initiate research and development of new cloud technologies to improve speed to market, reduce costs, and improve reliability and performance.
- Ensure that cloud solutions are architected to meet Geotab’s security guidelines and best practices.
- Support contract discussions with public cloud providers.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- Professional certification in AWS Solutions Architect or GCP Professional Cloud Architect certifications highly valued.
- 5+ years of experience architecting systems in GCP or AWS environments.
- Subject matter expert on GCP and AWS cloud technologies, particularly GKE, EKS, Memstore, ElastiCache, Pubsub, SNS, SQS, CloudSQL, RDS, IAM, VPC Networking.
- Expertise with Kubernetes, Helm, Shell/Python Scripting.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions and manage projects through to completion.
- Distributed version-control systems like git.
- Experience with APM tools such as Prometheus/Grafana.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab CI/CD, and Jenkins.
- Software development experience (e.g. PHP, .NET, Python, C/C++/C#, Go, Node.js, Java, etc) is highly valued.
