We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Field Service Technical Specialist who will be responsible for managing relationships with third party installers and ensuring that Geotab solutions are deployed in accordance with company standards. This position requires a highly motivated, well organized and committed individual who can maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers. This position involves working with a team of installation experts to manage Geotab installation programs. What you'll do:

As a Field Service Technical Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be to work with Geotab customers, internal teams and installation partners to provide support and ensure installation requirements are understood, priced correctly, delivered on time and in accordance to company standards.You will also be responsible for overseeing the installation of pilot projects involving complex solution implementation and new product introduction and ensuring company deliverables meet customer requirements.You will need to work closely with Geotab’s Automotive Engineering Support, and Sales teams, as well as communicate with external customers and resellers. To be successful in this role you will be a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly develop rapport with customers and partners. In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of electronic components and the automotive industry.  

How you'll make an impact

  • Provide design support for the Product team, analyzing user’s requirements, defining product specifications, and conducting field and simulation testing.
  • Work with Engineering teams to support issue investigations and provide relevant data.
  • Work with Sales and Solution Engineering teams on RFP responses for installation services.
  • Support customers, sales and installation teams to ensure installation and technical specifications are understood, priced correctly and delivered on time in accordance with Geotab's product offerings. 
  • Oversee installation of pilot projects involving complex solution implementation and new product introduction. Ensure company deliverables meet customer requirements.
  • Work with installers to ensure they understand and use the Field Services department price list for installation services.
  • When required, perform installations in the field as a part of an installation demonstration, installation training or Pilot projects.
  • Participate in installer performance evaluation and audits. Ensure company installation quality standards are communicated and adhered to in the field.
  • Source and qualify new installation partners. Provide training on new products and services, resolve installer issues and concerns. 
  • Create and Implement Installer Certification Tests.
  • Create Installation videos and guides in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
  • Author quarterly newsletters for our installation partners with the Marketing teams.
  • Send out feedback surveys, support Field Services invoicing processes, and update the ticketing system.  
  • Continually seek and suggest methods to improve both internal and external systems and processes within the organization, especially as related to installations and onsite services.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules to accommodate different International time zones.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. 
  • Ability to travel internationally with a valid passport.

What you'll bring to the role

  • 3-5 years of experience working as an installation field service specialist in Telematics, Automotive industry, or equivalent. 
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive electronic components.
  • Experience with OBD and CAN communications, SAE vehicle standards, serial data interfaces.
  • Experience with both hardware and software integration required. 
  • Knowledge of database systems and analyzing data sets.
  • Proficiency working with automotive/electronics test equipment, comfortable working with hand tools.
  • Knowledge of communications systems & networks (Cellular, GPS, serial data).
  • Experience managing third party contractor relationships.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new procedural information, and disseminate it to end-users.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills with ability to quickly develop rapport with customers and partners.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Diploma/Degree specialization in electronics, industrial management or a related field highly valued.
