What you'll do

In Cloud Automation Engineering your key area of responsibility will be managing and monitoring the performance of our server infrastructure on the public cloud - specifically Google Compute Engine - as part of the Cloud Automation Engineering team. You’re an IT expert in automated infrastructure management, and will spend some of your time scripting in PowerShell or Python. You will be a technical problem solver, developing strategies and solutions for complex challenges and outage situations. In this role, there is also an emphasis placed on ongoing support for your solutions and taking ownership of your area of expertise. You will need to work closely with internal technical teams, such as Software, Engineering Support, and Database Administration. To be successful in this role you will be a technical professional willing to roll up your sleeves and dig deep to solve problems with your team.

How you'll make an impact
  • Building PowerShell or Python scripts to deploy, configure, and maintain SaaS solutions for internal and customer facing applications hosted by Geotab.

  • Building out automation tools and working with public cloud APIs.

  • Review DevOps monitoring tools and respond to or resolve outstanding issues.

  • Develop DevOps tools for rapid detection and response systems.

  • System level tuning and debugging in public cloud, or in a containerized environment.

  • Provide technical support for engineering escalations.

  • Create and maintain documentation regarding configuration, processes, security.

  • Large scale log collection, analysis, and dashboard creation via Big Data tools.

What you'll bring to this role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or related

  • 1-3 years of hands on experience with PowerShell (version 5 or greater), Python, and SQL

  • Experience with C#, .NET Framework /.NET Core or comparable coding language required

  • Experience working with the latest version of Windows OS is an asset

  • Experience working with Linux server environments, including developing shell scripts, and working with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is desirable

  • Experience working with Public Cloud Infrastructure, GCP preferred.

  • Experience in successfully constructing a DevOps automated pipeline using trending tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes with Helm, Terraform, Prometheus and Grafana.

  • General understanding of network and server architecture is a plus

  • Experience working within a Test Driven and Security Driven Development environment is desirable

  • Experience with infrastructure automation or infrastructure-as-code environments is essential
