Geotab is seeking a Senior Tax Manager who will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and filing for all corporate and commodity tax returns at Geotab globally. What you’ll do:

As a Senior Tax Manager you will be the point contact for all tax authorities globally and will also responsible for managing tax compliance globally. You will acts as the SME to provide guidance and assist the Tax Specialist with problem solving. Additionally, you will also play a critical role in tax planning related to global expansion.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and other relevant tax filings in all jurisdictions where the company operates.

  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance with tax laws and regulations, including monitoring changes in tax legislation and advising management on potential impacts.

  • Prepare tax provisions, reconciliations, and disclosures for financial reporting purposes in accordance with IFRS.

  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position, minimize tax risks, and maximize tax savings opportunities.

  • Conduct comprehensive tax analysis and provide strategic recommendations to management on various business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and international expansion.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the tax implications of new products, services, and business activities, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives.

  • Lead transfer pricing documentation efforts, including the preparation of transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, and documentation to support arm's length pricing.

  • Manage transfer pricing compliance requirements across jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with OECD guidelines and local regulations.

  • Provide guidance on international tax matters, including permanent establishment issues, withholding tax obligations, and treaty interpretation.

  • Identify and assess tax risks associated with business operations and transactions, developing strategies to mitigate risks effectively.

  • Manage tax audits, inquiries, and controversies with tax authorities in collaboration with external advisors, ensuring favorable outcomes and minimizing potential exposures.

  • Implement tax compliance controls and procedures to enhance the company's overall tax risk management framework.

  • As the SME, provide, guidance, and mentorship to the tax team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture .Foster cross-functional collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness and expertise of the tax function.

What you’ll bring to this role
  • 10-12 years of required experience with tax management in a finance function.

  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.

  • Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.

  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant certification is highly valued.
