What you’ll do:

As a Financial Data Analyst, your key area of responsibility will be identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies in financial information to provide insights that help stakeholders understand the financial health of the company, assess risks, and identify opportunities for growth and optimization. You will play a crucial role in reporting to drive financial performance management. You will need to work closely with Geotab’s Operations, Sales, Legal and Compliance teams. To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, business acumen, and have strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Monitor analytics and metrics results and deliver regular monthly reports to stakeholders including AVP Financial Analysis, CFO and the sales organization.

  • Develop and maintain Financial Models for Budgeting and Forecasting.

  • Create and manage financial models to support budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine assumptions.

  • Write and Optimize SQL Queries. Craft and optimize complex SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis, supporting financial reporting and decision-making processes. Identify efficiencies within processes using advanced analytical tools and techniques to streamline operations and enhance decision-making capabilities.

  • Automate Routine Tasks. Identify opportunities for automation and develop scripts or workflows to streamline routine tasks, improving overall operational efficiency.

  • Provide analysis and develop financial models as required to assess Geotab financial performance. Build and maintain financial models for Scenario Analysis, sensitivity analysis, and decision support to guide strategic financial planning.

  • Enhance data quality of data housed in GBQ tables owned by the FDA team - regular process review/ audits.

  • Working with other data teams within Geotab, adhere to and support approved policies and procedures for the collection and analysis of data.

  • Data Visualization (Create visualizations to effectively communicate data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders), Predictive Modeling (Build predictive models to forecast future trends, outcomes, or behavior based on historical data), and Time Series Analysis (Analyze time-dependent data to identify patterns, trends, and seasonality).

  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning Model Development, and Model Evaluation and Validation.

  • Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis. Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial analysis, providing timely and insightful reports to support decision-making across the organization.

  • Drive actions through to increase gross margin and profitability.

What you’ll bring to this role
  • 5+ years experience as a Financial Data Analyst or similar role.

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field.

  • SQL, Google Big Query, Google sheets and Python.

  • Power BI and data visualization.

  • Data modeling, data mining, data and business analysis skills.

  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.

  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
