Geotab is seeking a Senior Manager, Process Improvement who will lead the Business Operations project management team in support of department goals and projects. What you’ll do:

As a Senior Manager, Process Improvement your key area of responsibility will be to lead a team of project managers, business analysts and continuous improvement specialists that work with multiple improvement strategies such as, but not limited to, Lean, Six Sigma and Total Quality Management to develop and monitor improvement processes within the organization. You will support a wide range of business stakeholders across multiple departments to assist with realization of organizational goals through process review and optimization. You will establish and drive a culture of continuous process improvement throughout the organization.

To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.

How you'll make an impact
  • Lead the Business Operations project management team in support of department goals and projects.

  • Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:

  • Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.

  • Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.

  • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with Geotab’s corporate PMO.

  • Analyze Business Processes – Analyze existing business processes using various methods such as gap analysis or PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) to find opportunities for improvement as well as losses, and determine root causes.

  • Develop Strategies – Act as an internal consultant, developing short- and long-term strategies for the organization and incorporating Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, and other best practices, as appropriate, to facilitate progress and innovation, reduce costs and red tape, in terms of workflow inefficiencies.

  • Lead Activities – Coordinate and lead key projects for process improvement across all levels of the organization. Supervise teams directly or collaborate with managers to re-engineer processes.

  • Monitor Progress – Establish measurable standards at the start of a project and then compare actual project results against these, regularly generating detailed update reports for management.

  • Provide Mentorship – Serve as a coach who coordinates workshops and team trainings, openly sharing guidance and technical expertise and ensuring that learning resources are widely available.

  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees on the team in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

  • Create a workplace culture that is consistent with Geotab’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Provide expert project leadership and guidance to the team as SME.

What you'll bring to this role
  • 5-8 years of experience in Project Management, Business Analysis or Continuous Improvement.

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma in engineering, management, or a related field.

  • Professional certification in a continuous improvement discipline is highly valued (e.g. Lean Six Sigma).

  • Experienced in project coordination and using problem-solving skills to foresee obstacles and make strategic decisions. An excellent mentor who can clearly express complex ideas.

  • Technical Expertise – It’s essential to have a firm understanding of process improvement techniques, tools and methods and experience applying these to make organizational changes.

  • Organization Skills – To spearhead both the planning and implementation stages of multiple projects, you must be organized and committed to meeting deadlines.

  • Leadership Skills – More than a supervisor, you are a coach and company game-changer, inspiring other team members to give their best effort and setting the direction for many initiatives.

  • Analytical Thinking – Critically evaluate individual processes and projects, then synthesize insights to arrive at a summary of overall organizational status.

  • Communication Skills – Ability to speak, listen, and write well is important, as you often hold presentations, facilitate meetings and training, and create reports.

  • Strategic Mindset – Has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.

  • Experience working in an agile environment.

  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of a high-technology industry is an asset.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
