Geotab is seeking a Network Manager who will be responsible for network solutioning across the Geotab global landscape. What you’ll do:

As a Network Manager your key area of responsibility will be to provide strategic direction, oversee day-to-day activities, and manage all network driven project deliverables. The chosen leader will work with internal teams, management, and vendors to deliver, maintain and enhance our on-prem and cloud network capabilities in a secure manner.

The ideal candidate should be people oriented, forward thinking and detail-oriented with a strong desire to work within a collaborative environment. Must have leadership and management experience with managing network engineers, architects and contractors.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead and manage a team of network engineers, a network architect and contractors

  • Provide strategic direction, oversee day-to-day activities, and manage all network driven project deliverables

  • Work directly with peers, senior leadership, team members from various Geotab departments and implement standardized network solutions across the landscape, both on-premises and multi-cloud platforms

  • Responsible for network transformation - goals, roadmap, and delivery, to ensure the Geotab network enables enterprise productivity and aligns with strategic growth and cost optimization imperatives

  • Serve as an operational escalation point for the Network Operations team

  • Proven ability to lead an engineering team responsible for architecture, design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of physical, SD-WAN and cloud native solutions in a secure manner

  • Ability to translate business requirements into low-level design criteria and facilitate collaborative engineering sessions that result in highly available network solutions

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of success as a leader within a fast paced and dynamic environments that span multiple geographical regions

  • Assess and mature lifecycle management programs

  • Enable automation to reduce release cycle time and provide higher quality of service

  • Strong ability to document and set standards, implement processes, procedures and governance of network environments

  • Leverage interpersonal skills to bring teams and leaders together to meet/exceed organizational goals

  • Leverage business acumen to compile business justification of conceptual ideas to include business value, financial impact, level of effort for executive consumption

  • Manage strategic partnerships with vendors to ensure the Engineering Team stays abreast of industry trends, to include leading proof of concept and product/service evaluation workstreams

  • Contribute to annual business plan

  • Adhere to IT Service Management policy and procedures for incident, change and problem management

  • Ensure that operational runbooks are published for routine maintenance activities - this includes scheduled maintenance oversight

  • Empower engineers and manage the delivery of projects

  • Ability to create presentations for executive consumption

  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees on the team in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures

  • Manage team expectations with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other department expectations

  • Create a workplace culture that is consistent with Geotab’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Provide project leadership and guidance to the team as SME

  • Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:

  • Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team

  • Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities

  • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning

What you'll bring to this role

  • 8+ years of experience in as manager for network engineering function, specifically design, delivery and maintenance expertise

  • 5-8 years experience managing and developing teams

  • 4-year university degree or college diploma in computer studies or 8 years equivalent working experience within enterprise networking

  • Professional Certification in CCIE, Cloud Certifications (GCP, AWS, Azure), TOGAF, SDN, Firewall Certifications (PCNSE)/Security certifications are highly valued

  • Expert knowledge of OSI model

  • Fundamental network principles (TCP/IP, OSPG, BGP and EIGRP)

  • Technical expertise with GCP, AWS or Azure cloud platforms

  • Functional knowledge of networking and data communication fundamentals including connectivity methods, security functions, and routing/switching protocols - both cloud and on-prem

  • Working knowledge of internetworking and security standards, incorporate security controls and technologies into the overall system implementations

  • Working experience with the following: application firewall inspection, web application firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, dynamic web filtering, internet proxy, firewall management and audit tools

  • Microsegmentation knowledge - architecture, design and implementation

  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset

  • Experience with reporting or business analysis

  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands

  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides)

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization
