Who are we looking for
We are always looking for amazing talent who can deliver results and help us grow! Geotab is actively seeking a Software Development Manager for our firmware development teams. To be successful in this position, you will be a strong multi-tasker with excellent leadership skills and a strong interest in delivering a feature-rich and reliable telematics product. What are the details of this position
As Software Development Manager, you will be part of a team who builds a state-of-the-art telematics device that effectively collects and collates multiple sets of data, in vehicle, for use by our telematics platform. As Software Development Manager you will be ultimately responsible for the health of both the team and product by ensuring that the team delivers high quality features to our customers. You will also build the skills and capacity of the Team Leads and individual contributors in the organization. The successful candidate will have a strong embedded development background in a team environment.
Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions
  • Drive the firmware team culture via mentorship activities, identifying areas of improvement as needed and providing opportunities for growth

  • Forecast and manage team resourcing

  • Apply a principled agile software development methodology to the embedded department focusing on the lifecycle of a firmware “project”

  • Participate in various cross-functional meetings, removing roadblocks for team members as required

  • Ensure we are maturing our product and team development policies in a pragmatic and thoughtful way

  • Role will report to the VP of Embedded and manage multiple team leads on a day-to-day basis

Relevant Experience/Skills
  • Graduate degree/diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or any other related field

  • 5+ years developing software in an agile environment

  • 2+ years of management experience in software development

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Jira preferred

  • Highly organized, task-oriented, solution-driven with a strong team orientation
