Geotab is seeking an Enterpise Risk and Controls Analyst who will be primarily responsible for gathering and analyzing insights, dashboards and metrics to support program delivery and objectives. What you'll do
As an Enterprise Risk & Controls Analyst your key area of responsibility will be supporting the use and administration of enterprise risk management data and technology solutions to enable an evidence-based approach to Program delivery. The position will develop queries, and support the assessment of data discovery and review for the financial audit team. You will need to work closely with the Enterprise Audit, Finance, and Compliance team members, as well as other internal departments, such as the Data and Analytics team. To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts.
In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you'll make an impact
Cross-functional collaboration with Audit, Compliance, and Finance team members to support risk assessments, audits, assessments and other projects as required.
Support the development and presentation of risk monitoring reports and remediation strategies, enterprise risk management policies and planning (as applicable).
Support the tracking and monitoring of operational activity performance and the status of remedial actions based on self-declared risk attestations, survey responses, audit findings (as required) and risk assessment results.
Support business areas with the development of programs for internal and external risk monitoring, reporting and governance controls related to priority risk areas/domains for the organization.
Listen to internal control and/or risk, governance and control environment design discussions and make detailed notes, documenting requirements and technical design.
Provide assistance to support staff, customers and resellers from a risk management perspective This may be in the form of ad-hoc questions relating to how data insights, and risk management requirements should be interpreted etc.
Support the review, assessment and generation of data insights related to evidence to support risk assessments and monitoring activities.
Support the administration of an enterprise audit and risk management application/solution on behalf of its stakeholders.
Map and document internal controls processes, business processes, control narratives, etc. in relation to our Finance activities on an enterprise basis and their associated annual attestations of conformance.
Develop and review easy-to-use dashboards and monitoring tools to support risk discovery and monitoring activities.
Work with internal teams to support all Compliance functions.
Identify opportunities to innovate and create better processes within Compliance.
Remain current on the latest trends and best practices for Compliance.
Assist with other Compliance projects/tasks as needed.
Technical expert on [subject] and provide insight and guidance to employees and/or customers.
Provide training and support to employees on Risk and Governance Controls.
Assist employees with questions and guide them on departmental processes.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
What you'll bring to this role
Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related risk management discipline (eg. legal studies, compliance, IT risk management, business administration, etc.) or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in audit, compliance, risk management or a similar role.
Experience performing risk assessments and road map development/design.
Experience extracting value from large datasets for purposes of audit and/or risk assessment analysis.
Experience with database design and dashboarding and writing queries.
A demonstrated understanding of the application of audit and/or enterprise risk management standards and audit and control frameworks.
Good knowledge of accounting, financial controls, and/or audit standards.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions and manage projects through to completion.
Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
