Who are we looking for
We are always looking for amazing talent to join our fast-growing and industry best Data and Analytics team. Geotab is actively seeking a Data Scientist, Educator to join our BigData team that is responsible for the delivery of insights from the over 4 billion raw records processed by over 1.5 million vehicles on a daily basis. What are the details of this position
You will work with Geotab’s Data and Analytics team who is constantly producing deep analysis and insight into Geotab’s data infrastructure leveraging machine learning techniques. As a Data Scientist, Educator, you will create content and deliver sessions at our Bootcamps and Data Tech Talks that are designed to educate and train Geotab customers, resellers, partners and employees. You will deliver sessions on a variety of topics ranging from BigData, SQL, Python Coding, data analysis, machine learning and data visualization and tailor teaching content for both internal and external training. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a passion for training and public speaking.
Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions
  • Deliver sessions at Geotab’s Big Data Bootcamps and conduct Data Tech talks on a regular basis for Geotab Customers, Resellers, Partners and Employees

  • Train customers, resellers and internal employees, on a wide range of topics ranging from Big Data, SQL, python coding, data analysis, machine learning, deep learning, data visualization, etc

  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain cutting-edge technical content for training experiences (on-boarding and continuous learning) relevant to audiences with a diverse set of educational backgrounds and industry experience

  • Tailor teaching content for both internal and external training

  • Lead by example as a data scientist, to be an excellent role model for our internal staff, customers and resellers

  • Coordinate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Professional Services, Data Privacy and other internal teams to identify training needs and organize events

  • Participate in periodic training workshops to sharpen the relevant skill-sets.

Experience/Skills Required
  • Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree in a Quantitative Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics-related field; Computer Science and Statistics preferred

  • Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills are required to be successful in this role

  • Proficiency in statistical computing/machine learning and/or programming in R and/or Python

  • Experience/extensive knowledge in R or Python data analysis

  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge of Statistics and Machine Learning from both theoretical and applied perspectives

  • Experience in developing a curriculum or providing training in a client-facing role is a nice to have

  • A good sense of the relevance of academic data science to industrial applications

  • Lead by example as a data scientist, to be an excellent role model for our internal staff, customers and resellers

  • Forward thinking with a strong growth mentality and the ability to upskill and reskill continuously to be up to date with technology demands

  • A team player with an ability to multitask in a fast paced, rapidly growing Big Data company

  • Experience in Telematics or any similar industry is a huge plus
