What are the details of this position
The HR Generalist acts as a strategic business partner to the organization and serves as a liaison between management, the wider HR team, and employees to develop, enact, and monitor HR initiatives and programs across business lines. HR Generalists work closely with their designated business groups to ensure alignment with employee and company initiatives. HR Generalists must understand the various business requirements to assist the departments with growth and development.
Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions
  • Act as a consultative partner for business lines on all HR-related areas including, but not limited to, company policy, employment legislation, compensation, organizational design, resource forecasting, disciplinary actions and employee relations (ER)

  • Collaborate with the HR team on the full-cycle recruitment process for Europe and take ownership of designated positions. Some recruitment activity for Latin America may also be required

  • Share new employee orientation responsibilities (approximately once a month) with the existing HR Generalist. Travel to other offices in the UK, Germany, France & Italy will be required with additional locations likely

  • Proactively assess and diagnose organizational issues and develop solutions

  • Analyze business challenges and HR programs to identify improvement opportunities

  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations concerns and contribute to the resolution of ER issues

  • Manage internal investigations when required; produce findings and recommend courses of action

  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace

  • Act as a strategic partner in the year-end performance management process

  • Analyze HR processes and continue to find ways to “work smarter”

  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies

  • Undertake tasks related to performance management

  • Collaborate with the HR team and department managers regarding recruitment needs and fulfillment

  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics

  • Ensure strict adherence to Geotab policies on Google sharing rights to confidential HR/employee information.

Experience/Skills Required
  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or Psychology plus additional additional Human Resources certifications/qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English required plus additional languages considered an asset

  • 6+ years of experience working in HR

  • Understanding of general HR policies and procedures

  • Good knowledge of employment/labour laws

  • Demonstrated success with full cycle recruitment activity combined with a passion for sourcing top talent

  • Excellent communication and people skills required for leading new employee orientation

  • Previous experience working on HR projects for a global or multinational company is considered an asset combined with an appreciation of the challenges that language, customs and time differences can pose

  • Change management experience relating to mergers and acquisitions is preferred as well as the ability to act as a cultural ambassador during the integration process

  • Ability to travel to European offices and North American Headquarters

  • Knowledge of Google Suite

  • Strong problem-solving instinct

  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, dependable team player

  • Ability to work on a broad set of HR functions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Able to manage multiple projects at once
