Geotab is seeking a Senior Test Automation Developer who will responsible for designing and writing a suite of automated tests for Geotab’s GO telematics platform. A focus on testing strategy for our cellular modems to ensure the highest uptime across the various regions in which Geotab operates. What you’ll do:

As a Senior Test Automation Developer your key area of responsibility will be to become a subject matter expert (SME) for testing with a focus on cellular modems for embedded devices. To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) for testing with a focus on cellular modems for embedded devices.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the GO device and how all the modules work with an emphasis on connectivity.

  • Design and execute a testing strategy for cellular connectivity of the GO device.

  • Develop tools and testing infrastructure to support automated testing in both local and remote environments.

  • Define, design and implement effective build procedures, CI/CD pipelines and jobs for existing and new firmware.

  • Document and educate on usage of CI/CD, test framework and coach team members on automated testing tools and techniques.

  • Write integration and system-level testing in both real and simulated environments to prevent regressions.

  • Work with the modem team to ensure firmware changes have adequate testing coverage.

  • Interact with BigData through SQL to analyze device data and develop monitors for in-field test devices.

What you’ll bring to this role
  • 5+ years of industry testing experience with a particular focus on IoT/connectivity for embedded devices.

  • 3+ years of experience working with cellular modules from providers like WNC, Quectel, Sequans, u-blox.

  • Understand the core tenets of software development, able to write reliable automation tests & scripts, and modify application code for test automation.

  • Strong knowledge of programming languages (C/C++/C#/Python) in the context of embedded (bare-metal, RTOS) and Linux OS systems.

  • Understanding and exposure to a wide array of QA practices, processes, and tools.

  • 1+ year experience leading efforts to gather requirements, creating design specifications and defining tasks to implement them is a plus.
