Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Software License Manager who will proactively manage software and server licenses and will be responsible for license allocation and utilization. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Software License Manager, your key area of responsibility will be to manage and provision software licenses under the Business Technology Operations area of responsibility. You will also be responsible for collecting data and providing analysis and reporting for upcoming renewals, focusing on license usage and costs. You will need to work closely with various stakeholders and teams across Geotab, as well as communicate with external vendors.

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding and hands-on experience with managing software libraries and strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage contract negotiations through completion.

How you'll make an impact
  • Avoid unnecessary asset purchases by promoting software functionality analysis/comparisons to avoid duplicative software.

  • Avoid over deployment of software licenses.

  • Apply a continuous improvement approach in enhancing the strategies employed in Software Management Database (SMDB) throughout their lifecycle.

  • Perform verification and audit SMDB content — verify software assets with license contracts, initiate corrective actions and track them.

  • Support the lifecycle management of software until its retirement.

  • Assist in the research and stakeholder engagement required to build a baseline for successful negotiations for new or existing software contracts or renewals.

  • Lead contract renewals for existing software of limited scope and financial impact.

  • Proactively manage and provision software licenses for systems under the Business Technology Operations area of responsibility, ensuring maximum utilization and minimum license inventory.

  • Responsible for data collection, analysis and reporting for tracking upcoming renewals, license usage and cost.

  • Development of new, alternative and innovative suppliers that can reduce cost and improve service.

  • Build solid business working relationships to communicate and persuade a wide range of internal stakeholders and external vendors.

What you'll bring to this role
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement or equivalent role.

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • A firm understanding and hands-on experience managing and maintaining a software library to include SLAs and warranties.

  • Experience working with various software vendors and vendor licensing models.

  • Experience negotiating vendor/client contracts.

  • A strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.

If you don't see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed above, we still encourage you to apply.
